The invention of the patented Ovotherm system in 1965 offering for the first time transparent egg packs changed the conservative egg world. The concept of showing the consumer the product without having to open the pack was developed in Austria and licensed to countries all over the world. Modern retailing increasingly demanded consumer orientated display methods supporting impulse purchase which led to new Ovotherm pack designs with more sophisticated decoration possibilities (in the early 1980’s). Market segmenting and growing brand awareness became magic passwords in the last decade. At the point of sale it was more and more necessary to distinguish different eggs with adequate egg pack types (models).

So in 1992 BKS Ovotherm International was founded to concentrate on the development of innovative Egg Marketing Concepts based on clear packaging. Now, in over 80 countries, BKS Ovotherm has become the link between agriculture orientated egg production and marketing driven retailing creating tremendous consumer loyalty. The "Honest Egg Pack" as it is called in many countries has established itself after 38 years of dedicated service to the egg industry as the "Clear Alternative".
