Actually it is correctly called: Co-Operative Republic of Guyana with the impressive slogan: One people- One nation- One destiny.
It is situated in the North of South America between Venezuela and Surinam (Dutch Guyana) and Cayenne (former French Guyana).
Independent from Britain since 1966 the majority of it's less than a million inhabitants live in and around the capital city of Georgetown on the Atlantic Coast.
Edun Farms was started by Abu Edun in 1985. He had just retired as the manager of a local mill in Guyana and wanted to develop his home-based passion, keeping chickens, into a commercial enterprise. He decided he wanted to go into egg production and his family came in behind him to support the venture. In 2010 the enterprise has expanded substantially and now includes three farms. Edun Farms has become the largest egg producer in Guyana and the third largest in the Caribbean countries.
Traditionally eggs were sold unwashed in paper bags in Guyana. They introduced a new clear pack produced in Austria by Ovotherm that made their product more attractive to customers. They also initiated an innovative marketing strategy that included "buy a pack of 15 eggs and pay the same price as for 12". It has enabled them to secure a strong position in the local market. A decision they never regretted and are proud of.
For their sophisticated egg marketing they now use crystalclear Traypack 1x30 as well as Supersell 2x6 and 1x12 to pack their brown quality eggs.
We at Ovotherm are proud to be associated with leaders of egg retailing also in this region and appreciated the visit of the Edun family at our stand at the poultry show in Atlanta.
