From PET Bottles to EGG Packs
Ovotherm has launched a PET project for environmental and economic reasons. After collection the PET bottles are ground in a mill and fed into a centrifugal washing barrel. The washed flakes of PET are, due to its higher density, lying on the bottom whilst remains of paper or other plastics would “swim up” where they are eliminated easily.

The flakes are then brought to the "EREMA" extrusion line where the unique patented "Vacurema" process allows direct sheet extrusion without the otherwise usual pre drying. This glassclear sheet which already carries food approval of governmental institutions like FDA and health ministries is either fed directly into the thermoformer or rolled up for later use.

In the thermoformer the sheet is given the shape of Ovotherm egg packs and then cut into single clear packs on the trimming unit. The remaining trims are ground again and fed back into the extrusion line. Decoration of Ovotherm PET egg packs is done according to customer wishes on a separate high speed labelling machine before being packed in strong boxes on which production dates with the names of the responsible workers are stamped for best traceability.

The R-PET project reduces waste and the glassclear egg packs are food approved by governmental institutions like FDA and health ministries .  Read more about the Ovotherm PET Project.
